Well, what another fun and beautiful day we all had this year for the 2018 Agonis Club person Of The Year Golf Outing and Banquet for Thad Matta.

With over 100 members golfing and eating and having a great time, we were able to raise money for the kids and show our honoree, Thad Matta how much we care! The stakes were high in the golf tournament with the #5 Par 3 Hole-in-one contest. No one got the hole in one or the $10,000 prize, but our past President, Fred Abbott was darn close!

The weather was absolutely beautiful as we whipped around Medallion Club and everyone was in great spirits as the Beer carts kept the spirits flowing!

As the day entered evening, the press start arriving for a glimpse of the very Tan Thad Matta who looked extremely relaxed and comfortable! He was pleasant and gave a 10 minute interview before we headed into the banquet to cheer him on and honor him for the great career that he had at OSU!

We were again joined by our MC Mr. Paul Keel's(Voice of the Buckeyes), and Mr. Dave Maetzold (Mr. Blue Jackets) and many past OSU greats like John Diebler (All time 3 point shooter in Big10 history) and even the great All American Clark Kellogg came in for Dinner!

It turns out that lightning can strike twice.  As it did for Notre Dame when Arike Ogubowale sunk buzzer-beater shots to advance to and later to win the NCAA 2018 Div I Women's Basketball Championship at Nationwide Arena this past weekend.

On twitter broadcast analyst and former NCAA player, LaChina Robinson said, “In my 16 Women’s Final Fours, this has been the best, By FAR. Well done Columbus.”  Notre Dame's winning coach Muffet McGraw had this to say, “Just an incredible job by Columbus and the local community. Great support for women’s basketball and definitely one of the best Final Fours since 2001, right?”  2001 being the last time the Irish won the Championship.

Here in Central Ohio the Championship game pulled the highest television rating in the Country at 8.5 percent of viewers.  Ohio State and Columbus last hosted an NCAA Semifinal and Final in 2005 when the Men's Ice Hockey Frozen Four was held at the Schottenstein Center to similar praise from visitors.

Wow.  A week ago, over 150 golfers and members converged on Medallion Club in Westerville for one of the nicest Spring days of the year for our annual 18 hole scramble.  We had a fantastic day with not only Coach Tressel and Coach Connolly in attendance, but the likes of Craig Krenzel and AJ Hawk running around the course made the day a good time for all.  We were also joined by our very own weekly luncheon and emcee 10TV's Dave Maetzold, the Voice of OSU Football Mr. Paul Keels, and OSU Historian Jack Park all had their hands in making this one special day for all!

We raised a LOT of money for plaques, awards and scholarships and everyone was treated to a fantastic Steak dinner after a great day on the links.

OSU Golf Courses Score Hole-in-One for Sustainability

At The Ohio State University Golf Club, functioning sustainably is an everyday objective.

Picture
Golf courses provide environmental benefits by creating urban green spaces, protecting coastal areas, and providing soil stabilization and habitats for wildlife. According to the United States Golf Association (USGA), until as recently as the 1990s, many courses used negative practices including the removal of native vegetation leading to runoff and soil erosion; over-irrigation or use of scarce water resources for irrigation; and the frequent use of harmful pesticides and other chemicals that pollute waterways.

At The Ohio State University Golf Club, functioning sustainably is an everyday objective. Groundskeepers at Ohio State’s Scarlet and Gray courses fulfill their responsibility to the environment by mixing appropriate sustainability efforts into each section of the 300-acre facility, which is located in a residential neighborhood just three miles from the university’s Columbus campus.

Ohio Stadium Policy Changes Announced No bag policy instituted; stadium-wide alcohol sales to begin

Picture(Click for larger image)

COLUMBUS, Ohio -
Bags larger than 5x8x1-inches will no longer be permitted in Ohio Stadium beginning with the Buckeye Country Superfest June 18-19. The policy also will be in effect for the International Champions Cup soccer game July 27 and the 2016 Ohio State football season as The Ohio State University implements a "no bag" policy at the 104,944-seat venue.
The policy will result in an increased level of security and improve the game experience for fans.
"We have worked alongside our safety, security and management teams and studied similar no bag policies," Craig Stone, chief of the Ohio State University Police Division, said. "We are confident this new policy will create a safer environment for our fans. We also believe the policy will expedite the process of getting our fans into the stadium and to their seats."

There will be one exception to the policy with regard to the size of handbags:
